Humor is something that is hard for an artificial intelligence to understand let alone nail down. Sometimes not even us mortals can fully grasp it. But with enough practice, our Vox were able to nail it down in no time.

Most of them are somewhat immature, being still very young in body and in soul. Because of this, they can easily appreciate the good-natured humor in a harmless prank or joke amongst each other.

Oddly, one of our Vox seems unreceptive to humor on a whole. (This one is named Griffith.) The reason why he seems to not understand humor or jokes eludes certainly me, and is currently being looked into by Olive in particular. I have a hunch that this is in his own way a joke of his own. Perhaps he is just acting, and maybe he even finds it amusing in his own unknowable way to not find the humor that his peers seem to partake in.

Although our Vox are beginning to grasp humor, there are so many subtleties about it that we humans don’t notice. These would be things like when to tell a joke, the timing, when something has been taken too far, etc. Although this is clearly not a priority, it is still important to Olive. If we can crack this, their artificial humanity will be irrefutable.
